U.S. Attorney for Northeast Florida Roger B. Handberg fired by DOJ
Northeast Florida's U.S. Attorney — a federal prosecutor with a reputation for pursuing white collar crime — was removed from his position Feb. 17 by the U.S. Department of Justice.
When Orlando Business Journal contacted the Department of Justice's Orlando office for comment, the call was connected to U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida Public Affairs Officer William Daniels, who confirmed the dismissal of Roger B. Handberg.
Handberg was appointed as the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida Dec. 27, 2021, initially serving in an interim capacity after being appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland. In May 2022, the judges of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida reappointed him to continue in that role.
