Zero-proof cocktails more than a Dry January trend
Mocktails are picking up steam, and not just because it’s Dry January — a period where people choose to abstain from consuming alcohol.
Summer House on the Lake — which opened at Disney Springs last month — is committed to year-round menu items that meet the needs of patrons who are drinking less alcohol, or none at all.
General Manager Richard Kaufman said the zero-proof concept plays well for the Summer House brand.
“They're a great way to enjoy summer all year round, whether you're participating in Dry January or just trying to decrease your alcohol intake for the night,” said Kaufman.
Mocktails are good for business and have been swiftly added to the menu throughout Disney Springs and beyond.
Joseph Fischer, general manager of Planet Hollywood Disney Springs, said mocktails help on the revenue side in January, but that Practical Magic, a mixed drink of pineapple, orange, lemon and lime juices with grenadine is served every month of the year.
