Tijuana Flats' lease negotiations reach critical point

An agreement has been reached in the Tijuana Flats Restaurants LLC Chapter 11 bankruptcy case where the chain's landlords received June rent at locations planned to remain open, said company spokeswoman Nicole Bott of Bott Communications Consulting.

The rent deferral request was a major hold-up in the case, said Scott Shuker, an Orlando business bankruptcy attorney representing a Daytona landlord in the case. 

“There was significant litigation over the rent deferral request, with around 30 different objections, including mine,” he said. "The debtor ultimately conceded, and while it was a shame to have all that build up, it was the right decision in the end.”
