Orlando drone expert talks industry protocols
A local industry expert said prior testing is crucial for drone shows as Orlando officials navigate the repercussions of a Dec. 21 holiday drone show at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando during which drones experienced "technical difficulties," fell from the sky and reportedly struck a child.
CEO Laurent Perchais of Dronisos, which produced Orlando’s 2023 holiday drone show but did not submit a proposal for the 2024 show, said knowing the area's physical environment is essential to the success of a drone show. His company, based in Bordeaux, France, has developed drone shows for Orlando’s major theme parks, as well as Legoland, Dollywood and Disney Paris, and has raised its profile in the U.S. since opening a Windermere office in 2023.
Perchais said a site survey and live testing are key standard industry practices before such shows.
