Why Universal has called Halloween Horror Nights its 13th month

Halloween Horror Nights has evolved rapidly since launching in 1991, as Universal pours money into the after-hours, separately ticketed event, rewriting the script with new haunted houses and scare zones at Universal Orlando Resort year after year.

This way, guests can come back every year for a different experience.

All that capital investment has a noteworthy ROI. While the company didn’t share numbers with Orlando Business Journal, Universal Parks & Resorts' former CEO Thomas Williams at a 2019 Comcast communications and entertainment conference called Halloween Horror Nights a “13th month” because it “drives enormous volumes of business.”
