Orlando ice cream scene gets sweeter with The Original Rainbow Cone's arrival

A Chicago dessert chain will soon have three Orlando locations, the first of which will open in Waterford Lakes Town Center.

Candy Krueger and her business partner Tom Nguyen will open a franchise of The Original Rainbow Cone at 461 North Alafaya Trail this fall. The pair has signed a multi-unit agreement to expand the 98-year-old brand here.

“The best thing about Florida ... [is] there’s no snow, so all year round everybody can eat ice cream," Krueger told Orlando Business Journal. "It’s never too cold to get ice cream.” 

The Buonavolanto family purchased The Original Rainbow Cone in 2018 and launched a nationwide franchising program in 2022.
