The craft beer industry has gone flat. But some breweries make it work.
On its last legs, Sanford Brewing Co. in October launched a GoFundMe campaign seeking $125,000 to pay employees. The company’s Maitland location had just shut down.
Brewlando owner Shara Pathak stepped in when she saw the public reaction to Sanford Brewing Co.’s distress, moved by the "loyalty, love and passion that surrounds the brand," she said. “Being in the industry, I was both sympathetic and curious.”
She bought the assets for Sanford Brewing Co., and said her team is undertaking significant renovations at the Sanford location, working to reopen by February 2025. She will reopen the Maitland outpost, too. “It’s going to be an innovation hub for our brand, producing smaller experimental batches while maintaining the community-oriented charm of downtown Sanford,” she told Orlando Business Journal.
