L3Harris in Melbourne gets funding for more ballistic missile testing
Melbourne-headquartered L3Harris Technologies Inc. (NYSE: LHX) on Nov. 15 was awarded a $34.4 million modification to a contract that now has a cumulative face value of $320.2 million, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
When including options, the modification’s ceiling is $77.7 million. The original contract was awarded Oct. 21, 2021.
The award adds procurement to the original contract, which tasked L3Harris with providing supplies, services and support for flight test instrumentation systems. According to an L3Harris spokesperson, the contract funds the Trident II D5 Life Extension flight test program in conjunction with the Naval Ordinance Test Unit out of Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. L3Harris has supported ballistic missile testing since 1958.
