Theme park drone shows face new scrutiny after Orlando crash

Since a holiday event mishap in downtown Orlando shook up the drone industry — leading to several cancelled drone shows — some experts believe new regulations and oversight may be on the horizon for the emerging entertainment feature.

In December, a child was injured seriously upon being struck by a drone at a city of Orlando drone light show conducted by Sky Elements Drone Shows of Fort Worth, Texas. The city contracted Sky Elements to orchestrate the Dec. 21 production where 500 drones flew in formation above Lake Eola.  

The incident resulted in oversight organizations springing to action.
