Disney to debut new Tiana's Bayou Adventure ride at Magic Kingdom in June
The Tiana's Bayou Adventure attraction at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom — the flume ride that reimagines iconic Splash Mountain — will open June 28, according to a May 12 news release.
The update swaps the ride’s previous movie theme of 1946’s “Song of the South” with the 2009 film "The Princess and the Frog." However, one remaining feature from Splash Mountain is the 50-foot drop at the end of the ride.
The plot of "The Princess and the Frog” follows Princess Tiana pursuing her dreams of opening a Cajun/Creole restaurant in New Orleans. The ride may use visual and audio cues to translate that narrative. Other characters from the movie — such as Prince Naveen, Mama Odie, Louis and Lawrence — also have roles in the water ride.
