Disney previews Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom
Since the first announcement in 2020, the world has been hearing about a new flume ride coming to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. The attraction is set to open on June 28, in anticipation, Disney invited media to experience the ride firsthand.
The ride is about 11 minutes long with steep drops from several heights, culminating with the tallest — a 50-foot drop — at the end. Animatronics in scenes by the water’s edge are strikingly advanced, with considerably more natural movements than are typically seen at theme parks.
Splash Mountain has been completely reskinned to create an immersive experience for fans of “The Princess and the Frog,” and the recreation of Louisiana’s bayous and its most famous city, New Orleans, is convincing.
But the experience goes beyond visuals. Sound is one of the most important ingredients in the mix, with music from the movie piped in loud and clear. Zydeco and spirituals authentic to the region of New Orleans show up, with songs sung by Bruno Campos as Prince Naveen, Jenifer Lewis as Mama Odie, Michael-Leon Wooley as Louis and Anika Noni Rose as Princess Tiana.
