Kamar Aiken opens Miami Grill in Orlando's Rosemont neighborhood
Kamar Aiken still was playing pro football when he set up his company K A & Associates LLC for real estate investments in 2015. He knew then that the plan was to build generational wealth and have something substantial to pass along to his children.
When he was a college freshman, the University of Central Florida criminal justice major was a starting wide receiver and played all four years of college. He was signed to the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2011, and then went on to play for the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles before retiring in 2018.
Now, he has opened his first franchise — a Miami Grill restaurant — on land he owns on North Orange Blossom Trail, which he bought in 2019 for $1.4 million.
The restaurant company was founded as Miami Subs in 1980, undergoing a rebrand to Miami Grill in 2014. These days, there are 31 locations in Florida, Nevada and South Carolina. Only four of them have full bars, and one of them is Aiken’s.
