Restaurants bet big on Orlando’s appetite for authentic experiences

Restaurant chain Zunzi's Enterprises LLC of Savannah, Georgia, is eyeing expansion, with a significant portion of that in Central Florida.

Some may find CEO Chris Smith’s confidence striking, given the worrisome state of the restaurant industry. But for Smith, the perils major chains like TGI Fridays have fallen into are teachable moments. 

"The restaurant business [is awful]. We're here to change it,” he told Orlando Business Journal, echoing his company’s mission statement. “I don't think people want to do the hard work anymore in the restaurant business. They want to sit behind a computer and try to solve the problems with the tech stack when really this business is just people serving people."
