From stationery to STEM: Laine Powell's path to impact
Laine Powell, the founder of Tech Sassy Girlz — a nonprofit formed in 2012 dedicated to increasing the representation of girls and women in STEM — embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship and the power of persistence.
Before her work with Tech Sassy Girlz, Powell owned an online stationery company, designing custom stationery for major brands like the NFL, Bank of America and InterContinental Hotels. Her creative endeavors also included curating unique gift baskets for corporate clients.
"During that phase of my life, I wanted to create — I wanted to share all the diverse voices and perspectives that were not represented at the time through stationary, note cards and gifting,” said Powell.
