Should this well-known downtown Orlando eatery host your next business lunch?

This is the first in a series of reviews assessing restaurants for their suitability for business lunches. Orlando Business Journal will focus on service, food-delivery speed, cost, noise level and other factors that can help or harm a business meeting.

Kres Chophouse, a fixture in downtown Orlando since 2004, is a go-to spot for lunch in the business district. The eatery is at 17 W. Church St. in a historic art deco building that once housed S.H. Kress & Co., a five-and-dime department store.

Most reviews on Yelp are encouraging:

  • “Come here for lunch frequently for business meetings … The food is always delicious and the staff are very attentive,” said Henry F.

  • Quentin H. said, “[It’s] a great place to have lunch meetings and good for dinner after a Magic game.”

  • “I've been here for lunch and dinner and both have been great experiences for me. This would be a good place for a date night, and during the day a business lunch,” said Tiffany A.

  • “Great for a business lunch. … Overall a very pleasant lunch experience,” according to Gail L.

I recently had reservations for a Jan. 25 lunch at Kres to check it out, and I made it a business meeting.
